Originality is a key requirement for a report – it should be your own work rather than a reproduction of others’ writings. To keep your report unique, start by avoiding plagiarism. When you use information from sources, put it into your own words and cite it properly. Copying text, even with a citation, is not enough. It’s better to read the source, extract the core ideas and express them in your own voice to demonstrate understanding.
The next step is to bring in your own analysis. Though a report synthesizes information, you can discuss why the data matters. Compare different authors’ viewpoints, and point out which arguments you find most convincing. This analytical layer gives your work originality. You can also include recent examples or case studies outside of your reading. Real events in Latvia or worldwide that relate to your topic. To show insight and make the report stand out. Use multiple sources rather than relying on one or two. Combining varied perspectives prevents you from following one text too closely.
Before submission, run your report through a plagiarism checker (many universities do this automatically) to ensure a low similarity score. Rephrase any sentences that appear too close to the original sources. In short, a unique report arises when the student engages deeply with the subject and articulates ideas independently, grounded in literature but not copied from it.
